Our Vision

Hope For Youth Ministries (HFYM) has a vision. To see children and young people won for Christ, that they might know Gods saving power in their lives. Our name is based on the words of Psalm 71:5 ‘For thou art my hope, O Lord GOD: thou art my trust from my youth’.

Colin-JoannaIn today’s ever increasingly secular society, the rising generation faces a whole new set of challenges and temptations. More and more young people are starting out on life with little or no Christian influence. For many, God has effectively been removed from existence and therefore few have any thought of eternity or what happens to their soul after they die. They live for ‘today’ and do what it right in their own eyes. This is an extremely dangerous place to be in as the Bible reminds us in Mark 8 v 36 – ‘For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?’

Due to factors such as avid and widespread materialism and celebrity culture, young people are faced with so much pressure to look, act and behave in a certain way. Often this can lead to feelings of failure, inadequacy and depression as they search for fulfilment in things of the world. A search which can only bring sorrow and disappointment. This is because Christ is the only one who can give peace which surpasses all understanding. Jesus said in John 14 v 27 – ‘Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid’.

HFYM aims to present the hope of Jesus Christ to this rising generation. To be a light in a very dark world which has chosen to deny the deity of Christ and God as its creator.

colin-kidsWe go out to these young people in the sure knowledge that God loves them and wants to save them from their sin. We know this because of what the Bible says in Romans 5 v 8 – ‘But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us’.

We rejoice that there is indeed HOPE for our young people and pray earnestly that the Holy Spirit will soften their hearts so that they may come to know Him as Lord and Saviour for both time and eternity.
